As you probably can tell from the title of this post, yes, I've added something new to my Camera Family!
I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but basically my Camera Family (gosh it sounds rather silly) consists of what I use to take photos with, namely:
- Canon 650D with the 18-55mm kit lens and the 50mm f1.8, which I use to take fancier photos;
- Fujifilm Instax Mini 25 (which is something really fun to play with 'cuz you get to see the photo taken immediately); and lastly
- iPhone 6 (woo hoo for iPhoneography!)
I've been wanting to shoot on 35mm film for the longest time ever. Probably the influence of Tumblr, along with Flickr. And since I'm a 90s kid (though not exactly a kid any more), my childhood was documented with a film camera. Hence...drum roll please...
TADA! Introducing my newest addition to the Camera Family!
This is a Ricoh LX-25, and it is probably the same age, or even older than me. Although this is only a film compact camera, I'm really excited to use it. I'm currently shooting with a roll of Fujifilm Superia 200, and I've taken 8 photos already! Can't wait to finish the roll and develop the photos hehehe.
One may ask why I am shooting film (moreover on a compact camera). Yes, it is true that the effects of film can be emulated by the post-processing software. However, I feel that the process of waiting to finish a roll of film and for the photos to be developed, is the fun part. The wait adds so much excitement and anticipation, which is something digital photography cannot offer (since we can view the images straight away after they're taken). Plus, I think this is a good introduction into 35mm film for me. In the future, I hope to be able to shoot on a film SLR. :)
And that's it for this short post!
See you guys on this space again soon,
Elsa
