China 2014: Day 6 (Wuyishan)

Hey guys!

Sorry for the absence again. I just finished my common tests in school, and decided to take a short break from all the studying to recharge my brain :( Final year in school is really, really more difficult. The difficulty isn't really in the contents aspect, but I just feel like there isn't enough time for everything. Especially since my guitar SYF competition is coming in April (I had been practising REALLY hard. Even when I finished my school work at 1am, I would still practise...) and the annual guitar concert is in May.

This is gonna be the last post in this travel series. A pat for myself for finally finishing up a series of blog posts!

So on my third day and the final day for some sightseeing/adventuring in Wuyishan, I went on a nature trail. The theme of the trail is to showcase the unique tea culture in Wuyishan. Wuyishan is famous for its tea leaves, due to the special geology and climate of the place. Many tea trees grow from the gaps between the rocks on the cliff! The most famous tea is Da Hong Pao, a type of oolong tea.

It was a cloudy day, and have I ever mentioned I prefer a cloudy day to a sunny day hahaha. There's a hint of mist in the air, and it felt really nice walking on the trail. We walked through many tea plantations, and hoped to see the waterfall from the rocks at the end of the trail. Unfortunately, the water has dried up :(

Anyway, here are the photos from the day!

And here they are, the famous and original Da Hong Pao trees! Plucking leaves from the trees has been stopped a few years ago to protect them.
And here's me looking silly in my mouse beanie thingy, pointing at the tea tree.
Some wild fruit that tasted like kiwi!
Me in the tea plantations, looking slightly silly with that mouse beanie.

Tea flower!

Some wild plants that could actually be eaten?
My grandma picking the plants hehehe.
Here's my aunt!
Grandma!

Look at all the tea plants!
Some wild berries! They tasted like raspberries :)

This is apparently some herb? And it has medical purposes!

Picked more of these berries, and ate more of them hehehe.

Wolfberry plant!
Organic vegetables planted by the temple in the mountains :)

Here's me plucking a radish HAHAHA. Excuse the blur in the second photo...it was a fun experience :)

Fluff in the mountains!

More tea flowers :)

Such a scenic trail :)))
Eagle Peak! Look how it is really shaped like the peak of an eagle :)

Those wooden structures were the homes of the people from the past. Isn't it crazy that they lived on the cliffs, without the modern day cranes to lift them up?

More berries!
A mini waterfall. However, it dried up in winter :(
Can you see the evidence of a rock fall! #GeographyStudent
Grandpa!
And here are some photos I took with my Instax during the trip:

Hope you have enjoyed this series of posts about my travel in China last year. :) Now that school is entering the second term, wanderlust is definitely kicking in. I can't wait to travel again, after my A Levels this year!

Until the next time,
Elsa :)
