Getting to National Stadium is really convenient as it is right beside Stadium MRT Station. We walked around Kallang Wave, a newly opened shopping mall. There are quite a wide range of retails shops and restaurants, although some shops are yet to open. And there is even a supermarket! We did some shopping at Uniqlo before getting some food. :D
Bought "Fishball Noodles Set". The noodles were quite yummmm. #ILoveFood
There is an indoor rock-climbing wall in the mall. How cool is that!!
After filling our stomachs, we finally went to the National Stadium. You have no idea how excited I was hehehe.
The National Stadium is the biggest dome structure in the world. It has a maximum capacity of 55 000, when it is hosting a football events. It is the only stadium in the world that can host a multitude of events as it has a movable tier system which allows the seats to be moved back, for events such as cricket and athletics which require a bigger space.
The stadium also has a retractable roof which opens or closes in 20 minutes, and hence both indoor and outdoor games can be held there. Not only that, there is also a localised cooling technology to maximise spectators' comfort. Each seat is cooled with 12 litres of air per second, powered by solar panels installed on the rooftops.
I spent a good 10 minute, taking everything in. The architecture and the engineering is just soooooo amazing!!! As the saying goes, a picture speaks a thousand words. I'll let the photos do the talking. :)
The exterior, taken with iPhone 5 :)
TADAA.
P.S. Is it just me, or does the pitch actually looks square-ish hahaha.
All the red and white seats!
Opened roof!
Seats, seats, and more seats!
The oh-so-beautiful architecture. I'm in love. /inserts the heart-eyes emoji/
The view of the stadium from the outside!
The retractable roof!
After seeing the interior of the stadium, we walked 1 round around the outside of the stadium. There were many people jogging around the stadium. Maybe I should start jogging too hehehe. #healthylifestyleleggo
We wanted to visit the OCBC Aquatic Centre, however, it wasn't open at the time of our visit. So I tried peeking in (LOLOL) and it looked pretty cool 8D
We continued "touring" around the Sports Hub. It was a pity that some facilities were still under construction...guess I'll have to come back again sometime in the future!
The golden hour and sunset was pretty legit too. Of course, I gotta take some photos. Unfortunately, my camera ran out of battery after taking photos for a while and I didn't bring an extra one. :( So I had to use my phone to capture the golden goodness. The whole place was bathed in golden sunlight, and we walked along the riverside promenade. Little kids were cycling around or riding on their scooters; grown-ups were sitting by the river, enjoying the golden sunset. There was even a person was roller blading, and at the same time, playing an accordion! I wished I took a photo before he skated away haha.
Snapple is my favourite drink yay.
Tiny Eileen!
Another view of the National Stadium!
The "beach" for beach volleyball! I hope I can play here the next time hahaha. There was a little boy who could play better than me though oops :/
Bridge connecting to Tanjong Rhu I guess?
A couple + sitting by the river + golden sunset = photo taken
iPhone bokeh! All the golden goodness.
Look at the gorgeous skyyy.
So yeah that's all for this post. I hope I had given you a "tour" of the National Stadium through this post. I hope I'll be watching some sports events there in the future!
Elsa :)
